How does it work?
|
You must see Magic Spectrum as a plug-in that can easily improve your mastering within a couple of minutes. Additionally, you can spend more time adding additional EQ or creating an amazing
combination of spectral textures for your audio. You also have a very impressive "Expert mode" included in the plug-in, that allows you to actually see your spectrum in detail and edit it graphically!
You really have to try this amazing plug-in... It's MAGIC!

Basic Mode
DUY's Magic Spectrum's "Basic Mode" is the simplest functioning mode within Magic Spectrum.
The point is the following: we have a piece of audio and we want to make it sound (frequentially) like another.
This process is called Spectral Matching: it studies the frequential character and qualities of a piece of audio and applies them to another.
To use Magic Spectrum as a spectral matcher, you have to "teach" the plug-in what the contents of each one of the materials is. Therefore,
you simply click on the LEARN button and play the Source (the audio you like, which is going to be used as the reference of what you'd like to achieve).
You will instantly see the frequency response of the audio on the plug-in's window. Once you have done this, repeat the same procedure with the
audio that you're still working on. Once the process is over, Magic Spectrum will automatically adapt your sound to make it more similar to
the one you're aiming at. You can control the amount of effect you want to add by using the "Amount" knob.
Isn't it easy?

Expert Mode
When you’re using the Expert mode, you become a “digital surgeon”, editing with great precision. DUY Magic Spectrum provides a pixel-by-pixel editable spectrogram, which is a graphic
representation of the frequency contents of your audio. You can graphically edit the spectrum yourself with an incredible degree and precision, by using a suite of edition tools. This is really UNIQUE!
See the Advanced Mode screenshot here.
Emphasis Mode
The Emphasis section allows you to apply additional equalization using a 5-band EQ (with shelf-type lower and higher bands), with adjustable Gain, Q and cutoff frequencies.
So... Magic Spectrum can also behave as a constant parametric EQ.
See the Emphasis Mode screenshot here.
Vector Mode
The Vector section is designed to extend the Matching's functionality even further, by allowing you to control different spectrums in a vectorial manner! By combining different spectrums, you can create a completely unique sound!! Compared to the Basic mode, the difference can be found in the Source (the spectrum of the sound you like). It now corresponds to 4 different spectrums, distributed along a circle. You select the "proportional amount" you want of each one of the spectrums, as if you were using a 2D joystick.

AVAILABLE VERSIONS
There are two versions of the plug-in: DUY Magic Spectrum is the native version, for RTAS (Mac & WindowsXP), Audio Units, VST(Mac) and MAS/MOTU. This version retails for 249 EUR. DUY Magic Spectrum PRO is the TDM version, and retails for 349 EUR.
What are the differences between the standard and the "PRO" version?
Magic Spectrum Pro for TDM provides basically the same functionality as
Magic Spectrum. However, as an added value, the PRO version adds even higher
precision in the frequency bands, allowing for breathtaking accuracy in the
edition and processing of each of the bands. Magic Spectrum PRO's process
takes place in the time domain, using DUY's exclusive OFIR (Optimal
Frequency Impulse Renderer) technology algorithm, allowing to render audio
with extremely complex equalizations within TDM with zero-latency. The great
advantage of the OFIR technology is its great resolution and definition,
preserving virtually no delay.
Magic Spectrum Pro for TDM is presented as a Mono process. For multichannel
applications, the plug-in is inserted as a "Multi-mono" plug-in, with the
"Link" button active within Pro Tools.
Magic Spectrum for AU, RTAS, VST and MAS processes the signal within the
frequency domain, using an evolution of the FFT algorithm that provides huge
quality to the processing, thanks to the inmensely high overlapping rate.
The algorithm is processed in an accelerated manner using the vectorial unit
of the processor, allowing for an extremely light load on processors.
Magic Spectrum for RTAS, Audio Units, VST and MAS is presented as a Mono and
Stereo process, except for VST, which is always Stereo but allows Mono
processing as well.
