"DUY is warm and original".
Andy Gray
Writer/producer.

If there had to be a competition for the one of the greatest supporters of DUY's DSPider and SynthSpider plug-ins, Andy Gray would probably get the top prize. His production credits include Tori Amos, Gary Numan, Cocteau Twins and Brian Transeau (BT), for whom he co-produced his recent album Movement in Still Life.

While working heavily in the studio, Andy tells us that DSPider and SynthSpider are his favourite plug-ins: "They are both so different! They have their own tone, and they sound like nothing else... The distortion is not a fixed setting like in AmpFarm or SansAmp. You are given the tools and gadgets to modify every sound or effect, and you have so many options...!"

Gray continues: "DSPider has an incredible amount of different uses. For example, great weird SCI-FI. Or one of the best De-essing plug-ins out there... You can also use some crazy filtering and distortion settings for drum breaks or to filter vocals."

By using DSPider extensively, Andy Gray has found a favourite application for it: "I would tell DUY users to try any of the Multi guitar fx on drum breaks. It's also the only TDM plug-in which allows you to have distortion/filter and envelope tracking in one same insert."

Andy has recently been working on the new Paul Oakenfold track "Starry Eyed Surprise", for which he used bass sounds from SynthSpider: "It sounds so well! Very fat, and again different to a standard Moog-type sound."

Besides his work on Paul Oakenfold's LP, "Bunnka", he has also been doing remixes for Gary Numan: "I have always been a Numan fan and it was cool getting to meet him". Andy also wrote part of the score for "Swordfish", and having had a great time with that, he moved onto scoring for a Miramax film called "Riders". He has just started working on a new TimeCop2 movie, with Jason Scott Lee.
